The NGO Coordination Committee for Iraq (NCCI) conducts monthly coordination meetings in its offices in Baghdad and Erbil. At these meetings current issues related to the humanitarian field in Iraq are brought forward and attendants discuss and develop common action points.
On 29 April a general coordination meeting was held at NCCI’s office in Erbil. Attending were representatives from 15 NGOs and the civilian-military coordination team of the UN. The first agenda point was a general update from the civ-mil coordination team. The civ-mil team, which is based in Baghdad and Erbil, aims to ensure that humanitarian actors are able to preserve their neutrality and that they do not get caught up in military operations. During the rest of the meeting, attendants discussed the process of the Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) and the first round of Cluster Defenses. Participants also discussed the upcoming Operational Peer Review (OPR) and the new setup of the Humanitarian Country Team (HCT).
