On the 17th of December NCCI held a general coordination meeting at its office in Erbil. General coordination meetings are held on a monthly basis and can include a variety of topics related to NGO coordination as well as updates from NCCI and its network.
OCHA’s civil-military liaison officer started the meeting with a briefing about OCHA’s civil-military deconfliction mechanism. Next NCCI’s Advocacy Working Group (AWG) introduced the currently existing task forces for returns, after which the information fact sheet on returns, a product of the AWG was presented. The attendants then discussed the proposed reform plans for the current return task forces.
Next NCCI presented its online interactive NGO map, a tool which maps NGO activities throughout Iraq. NGOs can register for the map and input and update their activity information here. The participants then talked about the latest developments of the HR/Admin group. Concluding the meeting were a number of general updates which included the planned launch of the 2016 Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) and a discussion around the potential failure of the Mosul dam.
