NCCI Hosts Three UN Cluster Meetings in Baghdad

On 14th May, NCCI hosted three Cluster Meetings in its Baghdad office, upon the request of the Cluster Leads for Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFIs), Food Security and Logistics. These successive meeting were attended by representatives of five different UN agencies, a total of eight International NGOs, six National NGOs, the Iraqi Red Crescent Society and the Ministry of Migration and Displacement (MoMD). Participants of the three Cluster Meetings discussed planned interventions, achievements, challenges and gaps to aid provision to those in need.

NCCI will continue to support NGO coordination within the UN Inter-Cluster Coordination Mechanism (ICCM) in order to ensure that National and International NGOs are able to effectively collaborate, integrate and share information within the wider application of the framework of humanitarian architecture for coordination in Iraq. The high efficiency of humanitarian coordination is especially important at the current time in the country, which is marred by continuing security concerns and the worst humanitarian situation since 2008. Aid agencies continue to work hard to meet the challenges of increasing needs of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) despite significant gaps in funding.
