NCCI Concludes a Fruitful 2014

Dear NCCI Members and other humanitarian partners,

The NGO Coordination Committee for Iraq wishes everyone a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

2014 has been an intense and fruitful year for NCCI.  During the past year, NCCI - in cooperation with its members - came forward with a new strategic outlook for the coming years. Following the annual General Assembly held in March, NCCI decided to review its strategic approach.  As the first step of this review, NCCI launched a survey assessing members’ opinions on the strengths and weaknesses of its current approach, while at the same time identifying expected upcoming issues. The data from the survey, combined with the input received at the general assembly, were then discussed at the Extraordinary General Assembly/Strategic Review Workshop in November. The results of this workshop can be found in the attached post-workshop report. The information gathered during the entire review process will be used to create the new strategic plan, which will serve as a guideline for NCCI’s activities in the coming three years.

Secondly, 2014 also witnessed a significant expansion of NCCI’s operational capacities. In response to the conquest of Mosul and other areas in Iraq, NCCI’s field office in Erbil was strengthened. In order to cover the whole of Iraq, operational coordination is now run from both NCCI’s Baghdad and Erbil office. In response to members’ needs, thematic working groups like the Advocacy and Human Resources Working Groups were created, further developing NCCI’s presence in the field.

NCCI is happy to conclude 2014 with 85 international and national members and 6 observers, and is looking forward to continue working with all of you in 2015.
