In response to the protracted humanitarian crisis in Iraq, NCCI is once again strengthening its Field Coordination Network (FCN). The FCN was designed to support and coordinate humanitarian assistance across the country. It consists of national NGOs working in the field of development and humanitarian assistance all over Iraq. These NNGOs received specific training by NCCI and work together with NCCI to enhance coordination, information sharing, and humanitarian assistance to affected populations.
With generous funding from our Swiss donors (SDC and BSI), NCCI held a three day capacity building workshop between 22 – 24 January 2015 in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The workshop aimed to build the capacities of 25 national NGOs operating in the country’s 18 provinces in order to enable them to successfully re-activate the network and enhance their roles as Focal Points (FP).
Using a highly participatory approach NCCI built the capacities of its Focal Points on:
• The International humanitarian system
• Humanitarian Response Mechanisms
• The Humanitarian Structure in Iraq
• Information Management and Reporting
The workshop concluded with the creation of a three months’ work plan and the establishment of regular, emergency and referral reports.
