NRC - Mosul Response To Date - December 27, 2016

Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM):

  • NRC distributed 88 RRM kits (emergency food, water, and hygiene items) to 73 families who recently arrived in Debaga camp.
  • NRC provided 1,123 RRM kits to 1,047 families in Khazer camp 2.

Education:

  • 1,513 students participated in 144catch-up classes with activities including mathematics, Arabic, English and science at NRC’s School Support Centre in Khazer camp 1.
  • 1,267 students joined in 72 recreational activities (art, sports and music) at NRC’s School Support Centre in Khazer camp 1.
  • Enrolment to date: 2,648 individuals at NRC’s School Support Centre in Khazer camp 1.
  • 1,091 students participated in 144 catch up classes with activities including mathematics, Arabic, English and science at NRC’s School Support Centre in Hassan Sham camp 1. 
  • 1,057 students joined in 76 recreational activities (art, sports and music) at NRC’s School Support Centre in Hassan Sham camp 1.
  • Enrolment to date: 1,621 individuals at NRC’s School Support Centre in Hassan Sham camp 1.

CASH:

  • 851 families received cash assistance in the second round of distributions across different locations in Erbil.
  • In Qayyarah, 839 families have been assessed in order to receive cash assistance in coming days.

Shelter:

  • NRC delivered 1,200 non-food items (NFIs), such as matrasses, blankets, heaters, hygiene items and kitchen equipment to families in Shoura sub-district, close to Mosul.

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response:

  • NRC’s GBV team facilitated psychosocial support activities for 62 adolescent girls in Hassan Sham camp U3.
  • NRC’s GBV team conducted a safety audit in both Hassan Sham and Khazer camps.

 Information, counselling and legal assistance (ICLA):

  • NRC’s ICLA team conducted four mobile visits to Khazer and Hassan Sham camps. 83 beneficiaries, including 18 men, 9 women, 27 girls and 29 boys, have been provided with legal services, such as counselling and support with the ratification of birth certificates for children born under ISIS.
  • NRC’s ICLA team delivered an information session about housing, land and property (HLP) rights and safety and security conditions to internally displaced person (IDPs) in Hassan Sham camp.

 NRC’s work in Kirkuk

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response:

  • Tent installation has been completed in Yahyawa and Laylan for the establishment of NRC-run women’s centres.
  • In Laylan camp, the GBV team, in coordination with International Relief and Development (IRD), conducted psychosocial support activities for 165 women and 442 men.
  • The GBV team conducted psychosocial support activities for 28 women in Yahyawa camp.
    • In Daquq camp, NRC delivered literacy courses to 317 women and Kurdish language courses to 177 men.

In Panja Ali, NRC delivered an introduction session to 22 women and conducted psychosocial support activities 297 females, as well as literacy courses to 24 m
