After several cases of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) were reported in different regions of Iraq, MSF deployed a team of experts on emergency response and preparedness to support five Iraqi hospitals, upon a request from the Ministry of Health of Iraq.
This emergency initiative was the first of its kind MSF ran in the country.

MSF has been present in Iraq since 1991. Medical teams are currently working in the governorates of Anbar, Baghdad, Diyala, Erbil, Kirkuk and Ninewa.
