The Kurdistan Reconstruction and Development Society (KURDS) has been active in the response to the influx of IDPs into the KRI. With the support of UNHCR, KURDS activities have included the erection of 440 tents in Khazir transit camp and more than 150 tents in Garmawa Camp. In Khazir KURDS also constructed a shaded area for the registration center as well as an area for a car park. KURDS staff have been actively involved in planning for the construction of an additional, more permanent camp at Khazir. In the past week KURDS also ran an emergency water trucking operation for the influx of IDPs from Hamdaniyah/Qaraqosh as approximately 1000 families from these areas came into Ainkawa.
