On June 16, MAG deployed Community Liaison (CL) teams to camp sites in Erbil and Dohuk Governorates to respond to the influx of internally displaced persons (IDPs). The teams disseminated emergency safety information at the populated camps and checkpoints, distributed awareness materials and carried out a Knowledge, Attitudes and Practice (KAP) survey among the IDPs. A new context-specific Risk Education (RE) leaflet has been developed and printed.
MAG deployed a clearance team on the request of Dohuk Governorate’s Development and Modification Center (DMC) to the Zummar IDP camp. MAG team cleared a total of 89,700 square meters of suspected contaminated land to enable the establishment of camp.
MAG is available to provide Risk Education sessions (in Kurdish, Arabic and English) to national and international NGO staff to mitigate the risks posed by landmines and unexploded ordnance if required.
