This update highlights the Danish Refugee Council’s humanitarian intervention, to assist the displacement-affected population in Iraq. This update covers activities conducted from DRC’s operational hubs in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region for the period 31 Aug – 6 Sept, 2014
In the Kurdistan Region
DRC distributed 1,500 kitchen sets to IDPS, located at Kherab Babek (500KS) Misririke (517 KS) and Sumel (483 KS), in the Governorate of Duhok. The Kitchen sets were donated by DFID.
In South/Central Iraq
Pre-registration of 400 beneficiaries has been completed in Ramadi as part of an on-going registration exercise aimed at assisting 1,500 people core relief items ahead of the winter season. The registration is being carried out through the Ramadi Volunteer Network – a local partner NGO in Anbar.
DRC conducted the fifth session of ten dialogue meetings, which aims to promote respect for IDP rights and to advocate for employment opportunities for IDP women and youth in Baghdad. This dialogue session was held in Khadra community on September 4th.
Four Iraqi returnees from Sweden, who are currently displaced in Baghdad, Kerbala and Missan, received social and professional integration assistance (USD 3,400 each), under DRC’s Reintegration Project, funded by the Swedish Migration Board.
