DRC - UPDATE – Iraq Program Emergency Response 21 – 27 September, 2014

This update highlights the Danish Refugee Council’s humanitarian intervention, to assist the displacement-
affected population in Iraq. This update covers activities conducted from DRC’s operational hubs in Baghdad
and the Kurdistan Region for the period 21 – 27 September, 2014

In the Kurdistan Region
• Camp coordination continues in Bajet Kandala (BK) 1 and 2. The two camps are visited 3 times in a
week.
• Distribution activities in KRI for this week include: 1,000 hygiene kits, 1,000 food parcels and 2,000
blankets to a total of 1,000 families in Jassa village. Also, 703 Solar Lanterns and 74 Tarpaulin were
provided to 700 families still living under tents without electricity in Zahro, Wargaha Dalal Camp,

In South/Central Iraq
• Distribution activities in south central Iraq for the week include: 500 hygiene kits, 500 food parcels
and 500 kits of non-food items to 500 families in Ba’aquba, Diyala governorate
• Protection monitoring is ongoing in Baghdad with 219 new protection cases documented and 151 of
them identified for cash assistance
