The United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development (UIMS) funded through Iraq Humanitarian Pooled Fund (IHPF) in coordination with service center in Saladin  starts the project of OCHA-WASH that includes several activities in displaced people camps (Al-Mu’askarat-north of Tikrit)  just like installing a group of latrines and showers, water tanks that will save wash water in the camps, distributing water gallons, and drinking water, also distributing hygiene kits, garbage bags with its Containers, in addition to  cleaning and awareness campaigns about disease prevention by collecting garbage properly. Our work from Kirkuk The Kirkuk office’s Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response work last week included: delivering psychosocial support activities to 212 women and an awareness raising session to 67 women and 55 men in Nazrawa camp; conducting, in coordination with International Relief and Development, psychosocial support activities for 333 women and 315 men in Laylan camp. In addition, an awareness raising session was delivered to 24 women and 69 men; providing psychosocial support activities to 611 women and delivering Kurdish language classes to 318 men in Daquq camp. UIMS’s staff conducted a field visit to several caravan schools to monitor and follow up the performance of the quality   of education in synchronization with the performance of the exams for our students. The staff praised the prominent role for the efforts of the teachers and administrative staff in those schools, to provide a suitable atmosphere for the exam to ensure the performance exam of our students. The field visit also includes (Third Al-Kuwait School) and the secondary school (The Seventh Al-Kuwait School) in Al-Fallujah sector/ Al-Anbar governorate, these schools are constructed by a donation from the schools project of (Kuwait campaign by your side) through follow up and implementation by UIMS.
ACTED’s Communication with Communities team has recently completed its one-month awareness-raising campaign on child marriage which targeted Syrian refugees in Badawa, Baharka, Daratu, Havalan, Pirzeen, Turaq, Shawes, Mamzawa and Kaznazan/Setaqan areas of Erbil City. The campaign, funded by UNHCR, aimed to achieve behavioural change at the community level through the provision of legal advice and emphasis on service provision from partners such as DVAW and DoLSA. Nine key messages were delivered, including one on the legal age of marriage in KRI (18); and another on the fact that all children have a right to education and to finish their education even if they were married before the legal age of 18. NRC’s work in Erbil Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM): NRC distributed RRM kits (emergency food, water, buckets and hygiene items) to 24 internally displaced families in Debaga camp last week. Education: 4,751 students attended catch-up classes and psychosocial support activities at NRC’s School Support Centre in Hassan Sham and Khazer camps. Shelter: NRC delivered 600 non-food item (NFIs) kits containing blankets, heaters and hygiene items to families in Al-Shura sub-district close to Mosul.  A donation from the Taiwan government, UIMS (the United Iraqi Medical Society) for Relief and Development, with cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Environment of Iraq /Health Department of Salah Aldine opened a Mobile Hospital.  The hospital will be operated with funding by UN agency. The Mobile Hospital’s location will be in Salah Aldine province to provide services to a large number of IDPs. A number of delegates attended the ceremony of the opening from the local government of Salah Aldine. The Mobile Hospital, contains a number of units such as Dental unite, Examination room, Gynecologist’s room, pharmacy, laboratory, in addition to the patient care unit  and others.
