On January 31^st -2^nd of February 2013, Sulaimanya will host its Start Up Weekend. Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 400 past events in 100 countries around the world in 2011.

On November 15, 2012, Sulaimany will host its first Startup Weekend, an event bringing together entrepreneurs, designers, developers, and startup enthusiasts to participate in 54 hours of taking innovative business ideas from concept to launch. Mercy Corps, USAID, and Google will principally sponsor this event in Iraq.
