Mercy Corps is issuing an RFA for registered, qualified Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to conduct domestic monitoring, observation and reporting activities. CSO’s monitoring programs will focus specifically on the election campaign, special voting, and election-day voting and counting processes. Contingent on availability of additional funding, CSO’s activities could be expanded to cover long-term monitoring of the Election Campaign, monitoring of the Election Administration Authority (IHEC and especially GEOs) as well as Media Monitoring. Baghdad, 1 December 2013 – According to casualty figures released today by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), in November a total of 659 Iraqis were killed and another 1,373 were wounded in acts of terrorism and violence. Some 565 civilians (including 120 civilian police) were killed last month, while some 1,186 persons (including 239 civilian police) were injured.
